Birding Central Thailand
In January 2020, I joined Birding Ecotours on a ten-day tour of Central Thailand.
It was my first trip to Asia, and my time there was filled with new sights, great food, and fantastic birding.
I arrived a few days before the tour started to explore Bangkok a bit on my own.
My first bird for the country and continent? Asian Openbill.

I stayed near one of the city's biggest parks, which allowed me to get acquainted with the common birds of the area.
An Olive-backed Sunbird on a nest was a highlight in the park.
The tour started with several days spent in and around Khao Yai National Park. Khao Yai was the first national park established in Thailand, and it is a popular destination for residents and tourists alike to enjoy a range of ecosystems and wildlife.
